Northern Kelp Crab - Pugettia Producta

Seen mostly in the lower harbor where it’s favorite food is algae. Its long legs and claws make it an agile and well defended crab. It’s shell will take on the color of the algae it eats which helps to camouflage itself against hungry fish. It isn’t afraid to defend itself with their long legs and claws. Even a skilled seagull was once seen flying around the harbor in a panic, with a kelp crab clinging to the bird's chest. It may be small, but it is tough.
